What Rough Beast | Poem for August 26, 2017

Lori Lamothe
Somewhere Not Here

flocks of missiles
lift in elegant curves
and the sky rains fire
onto a desert
hut where a girl
pencils answers to
problems she can’t solve.
Somewhere not here
twins sleep in unbroken night
as somewhere
exactly like here
every forsythia bush
blooms yellow
and the clouds go on
tumbling across blue
in all their airy complexity.
