What Rough Beast | Poem for October 13, 2017

Sarah Dickenson Snyder
An Audible

A racist base is the basis
for racism, and it’s basic

racism as the base of his base.
On what basis is he racing

to weigh in on the NFL—
could this be the basis

for a final block,
a sack at last—

his racism uniting players,
coaches, and fans to build

a wall together, linked arms
in justice for all,

dismantling the base
of racism?
