What Rough Beast | Poem for September 2, 2017

Barbara Reynolds
Aleppo Colors

Nothing green can be seen
in rubble as gray as a blueless day

not a tree not a bush
not a blade of grass grows

where white helmets probe
the debris for ashen limbs
and bloodied bodies.
