Transition Poem 25 @ Dec. 3, 2016

Anthony Cappo
Days of 2016

Hushed, huddled, spinning
in the sad wheel
of history.

The walling of the human heart.

Pikes raised in celebration.

That trembling late night call, that
lump that turns out terminal.

Sometimes the worst
happens.

The battering ram pounds the gates,
its steel heart taking
no questions.
