What Rough Beast | Poem for December 18, 2017

Micah Zevin
Populism, Minus the Free Candy (An Ode)

Populism, minus the free candy
A new kind of jail
In the age of opiates
Wreckage on addicted lives behind bars
The promised lump of coal
Just another petty crime
