What Rough Beast | Poem for June 11, 2018

Michele Stepto
Scenes from the Poem and the News 2

The poem enters wearing
its heart on its sleeve

a big heart and bleeding
bleeding bleeding!

This is the part
the audience loves

It laughs and laughs
it laughs its socks off

it laughs its ass off
it busts a gut

laughing its head off
it dies laughing

all the way to the bank
the poem turns

its heart around
closed it says

on the other side
