What Rough Beast | Poem for March 5, 2019

Devon Balwit
You seek reverie

but get chainsaw,
neighbors hard at work
to obliterate the moment.

How tempting to flare
like an ordinary match—
practice asks

that you turn inward.
Surprisingly,
it can be done.
