What Rough Beast | Poem for May 23, 2018

Chris Lim
for no one

a dining table
for no one
a faint reflection
a dim yellow from the lamp
hanging overhead
oscillating on the surface of the ceramic plate
he chews his food, slowly liquifying
and bleaching its flavor
there is a bland taste of old dough
reflecting
bedsheets crumpled like old receipts
scrambled mounds of clothes
tubs of rocky road ice cream
in front of the void tv
lost in his own house
from refuse and refuse
